Good evening :) this is what I currently have:

GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3
AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition 3500.0 MHz
4GB RAM
128GB SSD and a 2TB HDD
380W Seasonic PSU
MSI N570GTX graphics card

Now I play battlefield 4 and the above struggles, do I upgrade all or just graphics?

Thanks in advance.

GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3
^Obsolete socket/chipset. No upgrade path.

AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition 3500.0 MHz
^Very weak by today's standards

4GB RAM
^Not enough RAM for a modern gaming rig

128GB SSD and a 2TB HDD
^These are still good as long as they work properly

380W Seasonic PSU
^You really ought to go with a higher wattage PSU but the brand Seasonic is good.

MSI N570GTX graphics card
^Very low perf by todays standards

So yes, I agree, everything needs to go except the storage. Consider repurposing this machine into a server/HTPC/etc or you could sell it on the cheap as a used machine.

If you want to stick with AMD, look at the Ryzen 1700, 16GB of DDR4, a GTX 1070, Seasonic SSR G-550 power supply, and maybe a B350 chipset motherboard. That's assuming you want to spend a decently large chunk of money on this.

If you give us a budget we can narrow it down.

All, for sure. It's 6-7 year old hardware, there's no real upgrade path for any of it without starting fresh.

Depending on your budget, depends on what you can get of course, but a lesser budget you could look into second hand components to get a newer system with a lot more power.

Seasonic or not, I would change the psu as well. I am guessing it's a S12/S12 II 380w in which case it's nowhere near 380w on the dual 12v rails anyway. The S12 only had 300w and the S12 II only had 324w on the 12v rails. I am actually surprised that it has managed to power that pc and survive all this time.

I was surprised the PSU has powered it all for this time, that was from my rig before that one.
I have a generic case, nothing special but I like it, good air flow and takes 120mm fans, I had to modify it to take that Graphics card.
Ideally I'd like to spend no more than £500, but I need a monitor too, I am still using an old apple display, it has been a great monitor but nothing as good as the latest kit.
I don't actually think my pc meets the minimum spec for battlefield 4, but I've been playing for a while now.
Thanks for all your replys, I love this forum.
