Upgrade already???

Quick (very) newbie question. I bought the Titan Tanto (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?catid=&prodid=FS-002-OG) - except I upgraded to i7 and 16gb RAM - from OC about 7 weeks ago.

I am slightly disappointed in it's performance in that I can't even run Black Flag at max without slowdown. Is it worth upgrading the graphics card already? It's a bit depressing that I might need to upgrade already. I was kind of hoping that this new PC would run Dragon Age Inquisition and Witcher 3 at max settings.

The GTX760 is a fine card, though it does sit in the mid range grouping of graphics cards. What resolution are you running?

Yea, id buy a new graphics card. 970 seems decent for the price and works just fine right out of the box so try that.

Thanks. I may well try that. Didn't really want to upgrade this soon but hey ho, PC gaming I guess.

Sorry to say it, but that was never going to run Witcher 3 at max settings

That'd probably be it then. The 760 sits around the low-mid range gpus based on what's available on the market today.

You see, that's what bugs me with PC gaming. That PC cost me around £1100 and I would expect it to run games at high settings, at least for a while.

For something like Black Flag or The Witcher 3, I think you need to be looking at a 970 or 290.

You could have spent the money differently and ending up with a higher performing system, a 760 is performance that was available in 2012, and I mean the starting days of 2012 (the 7970, which is still faster than the 760)

I wouldn't be surprised if you needed a couple of 970's to run W3 with all the bells and whistles. Not that I've looked into it much tbh.

Do some research before you drop big money on PC parts. The i7 & 16GB is overkill for gaming, an i5 and 8GB of RAM would be fine and the extra money you splashed on those parts could have gotten you a better GPU.

Yeah hindsight and all that. Well this is depressing lol. Think I will just get Dragon Age on the PS4. Anyone want to buy an underpowered/overpriced PC?

Yeah I am not a tech head. I just assumed as it was from OC it was decent.

Don't be too disheartened, it's just the graphics card that is the weak link. Your cpu and ram will last you a long time.
