Upgrade assistance please.. :D

I've been a bit out of it for a while so bare with me on this.

Ive recently bought a 9800gtx+ and am now thinking hmm.. wouldnt mind upgrading my processor and RAM.

I have an Asus P5B deluxe mobo with an E6400 2.13 allendale. I dont really want to change the mobo tho.

Could you recommend a processor and RAM that would work well with the board, which would give me some performance boost??

I'm not rich so a budget option would be nice.

what RAM have you got at the moment?

could always over clock the processor to get more performance out of it, that chip should do 2.8-3.0Ghz easily enough.

I think 9800GTX will be held back by the current speed of your CPU. Get clocking that beast, as above you can easily get 3GHz out of it.

Nothing wrong with your cpu, I had one and it went to 3.2Ghz easy as pi(e) so that should solve that problem, you really should have PC6400 ram which is spec'd to run at 400MHz (default)

FYI your multi is x8 so your current FSB is 266 -> 8 x 266 = 2.13GHz
up to 400MHz FSB (should be **** easy on your mobo) -> 8 x 400 = 3.2GHz

problem solved - you might need to sped £20 on some PC6400 ram if you don;t have it already. (use cpu-z to find out what ram you have)
