I think its time to upgrade. i have a i7-2600 @ 3.40ghz / 3.70ghz, and currently:

ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
1024MB
Core 860mhz
Memory 1200mhz
Memory bandwith 76.8gb/s

My main reason is for Borderlands 2 (wanting 1920x1080 & max setting including physx)

What the best "bang per buck" nvidia card at the moment? i have a budget of say £100-150

What about this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-177-MS&tool=3

Is this overkill or underkill?

Any advice would be appreciated

for that price range your best bet on an nvidia card is going to be 2nd hand

thanks

so for my price range (unless i go second-hand):

i can't get a nvidia card that outperforms my current ATI and...
it also wouldn't run BL2 on max? (my current ATI card can't even run at max with physx off)

and if thats true whats the best bang per buck nvidia card (in any price range that will run BL2 on max)

The GTX660 at around £180 is very decent bang for bucks wise (pretty much equal as bang for bucks as the same price 7870 without much of a price premium), however that's out of your price range. One teir lower down is the GTX650, which as a whole is pretty much only around equal to your 5770's performance...

If you don't mind the heat or potential noise you can get GTX480's for a smidge under £120 refurbished (1 year warranty). Obviously cannot state where but that would be the best "bang for buck" available from Nvidia at the moment.

Performance wise you are looking at stock GTX660 for £50-60 less.

Thank you all for your help

So forgetting my price range, the GTX660 is the best bang per buck nvidia card that will run BL2 on max (inc physx)

e.g. i would be foolish to spend £150, i should spend the extra £30 and get a GTX660?

If you look at the following...according to techspot, at 1920 res max quality with high PhysX:
http://www.techspot.com/review/577-borderlands-2-performance/page5.html
the GTX560 does average 49fps, and the GTX680 does average 60fps. The 660 while not shown there, would most likely be somewhere between this two frame rates for averge...may be at around 55fps.
