Hello all

my brother is trying to stream his starcraft 2 games online with no joy and with him not able to afford much he wants to find a way to upgrade his computer for as cheap as possible that would let him do what he wants.

He is playing starcraft 2 on the lowest possible settings with a res of 1920x1080, getting about 80 fps in game, but once he starts to stream or do any local recording his fps go down to like 20 and its just not working, its 2 laggy to play and even turning the stream/local recording down to lower settings still suxs so the computer is no longer doing what he wants.

He is not looking at playing the game at max graphics setting he is happy playing at low settings, just wants to be able to stream without his computer dieing, hell even loading up the program you can feel the computer dieing lol

anyway enough spam of words here is the specs

3.00 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
4Gig ram not sure which 1
Gforce 9600GT card
Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. M2N-SLI DELUXE 1.XX
power supply ocz 600w

Hard drives
Hitachi HDS721010CLA SCSI Disk Device
ST310003 40AS SCSI Disk Device
dunno speeds but both 1 TB each

As you can see its a horrible computer he has had for a while, the computer i had was £1.2k but thats not the money he wanted to pay.

Because he is not expecting top graphics just able to stream at low computer settings but good for the viewers i guess its a few 100 but maybe its not an easy fix and only way is for a whole new computer.

His internet seems fine, upload about 1meg download err think it was 6meg

thanks for any tips/advice

scsi hard drives? not sure that'll work on the new system, will have to leave it upto someone who knows about these things.

ideally you'd want something like

i2500k
cpu cooler
gigabyte z68ap-d3
4gb pc3-12800 1600mhz or 8gb if you can afford it
500-600w psu the one he has is it the modextreme/stealthextreme?
£30-£40 case whats his current case? could save here if its a decent one i.e. not a el chepo dell etc
6870/gtx560ti

current hard disk prices will eat up a lot of the budget if you can't use your current one.

well it says scsi on the program but tbh i am 100% sure they are sata drives, its not ide cable, its the red one used in sata, so i think thats an error on the program i was using, unless i am wrong

o and ya on the powersupply its the stealthextreme

also thinking about it, he has a samsung galaxy sII phone i know its got a justin tv app so could use that to stream using the wifi, wouldnt be great but maybe that would do, i will test it
