Upgrade,But what difference will i see?

Hi, I hope this isnt a dumb question but i am thinking about upgrading my graphics card (Nvidia 8800Gt) I mainly play BF2 ,COD 4 etc and i was wondering wheather upgrading my card will allow me to see a vast (or any)improvement in the visuals i now get?
I will willingly pay more for better visuals,but as i already have all the settings for the games i play pretty well on high ( or equivilent) am i just going to waste my money? Thanks in advance... great forum great advice

PS.. I realise that future games will require a better card..

What resolution is your monitor? If it's 1680x1050 then you're not going to see much difference in COD4 and BF2 stepping up from an 8800gt.
