I have a home theatre PC with a Terratec Cinergy PCI HD tuner and the following spec;
Antec Fusion Case
Asus M4A785D-M Pro (Integrated ATI Radeon HD4200)
4GB RAM
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core (4200+ 2.2Ghz)
I am using the on-board graphics, but since I bought a full HD TV these seem a little stretched for performance at 1920x1080. While SD channels play fine, when I am watching HD channels on the TV tuner (using NextPVR) they have reduced framerate and the video seems to slow down at times and then 'catch-up'.
First I thought it was a TV tuner issue, but I noticed that if I lower my windows resolution down to 1360x768, suddenly HD TV channels play fine. I'm assuming lowering the windows resolution is freeing resources from the in-built graphics and then it can cope.
So I need 2 answers;
1. do you agree that is the issue.
2. what graphics card would be a suitable upgrade, i.e. this is not for gaming, it has to fit in an Antec Fusion case and not need a lot of power/cooling.
