Upgrade Check - Ordering tonight

Looking at ordering these tonight:

Ram
CPU
Motherboard

This seems good to me, but the only thing that concerns me is that a review for the motherboard mentions that you need to flash the BIOS which I have no idea how and I'd rather now have to mess around with things like that. Also if it changes anything I'm not really planning to overclock.

I don't want to spend any more than £300 on this upgrade

according to the gigabyte site, as long as the bios is above f3 it will be fine with the processor.

other option if you really dont want to take the chance it isnt, is if you're budget is that strict then drop the 8500 to 8400 and get a p45 mobo.
 
lol, for some reason i saw an 8500.

looking at the asus the P5QL-E needs to be on bios 0602.

for the Asus P5QL Pro if the 8400 is rev c0, then it will good to go straight out the box, if its rev e0 it will need bios 0408.

most recent reviews for the 8400 are e0 tho :(.

so i'd favour the p5ql pro.
