Hi all,
I currently have an asus a8n-sli premium, x2 4800 & 2GB OCZ PC3200 pair in my rig.
I have the oppertunity to sell this lot if I want and buy the following for around the same cash:
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) (MY-013-GS)
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-152-AS)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-128-IN)
So my question is this, would this actually be an upgrade in performance? I dont overclock the 4800, but it did get to about 2.7 when I did try as a test.
My other thinking is that i'll be setup for the future months if I make the swap & I guess the E6600 will have some decent headroom for overclocking under my watercool setup. What I dont want to do is make the swap and degrade my current performance.
I mainly play WoW and FPS games, pairing the above rig with a X1900XT.
Thanks in advance for any info.
Matt.
