Hi all,

I currently have an asus a8n-sli premium, x2 4800 & 2GB OCZ PC3200 pair in my rig.

I have the oppertunity to sell this lot if I want and buy the following for around the same cash:

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) (MY-013-GS)
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-152-AS)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-128-IN)

So my question is this, would this actually be an upgrade in performance? I dont overclock the 4800, but it did get to about 2.7 when I did try as a test.

My other thinking is that i'll be setup for the future months if I make the swap & I guess the E6600 will have some decent headroom for overclocking under my watercool setup. What I dont want to do is make the swap and degrade my current performance.

I mainly play WoW and FPS games, pairing the above rig with a X1900XT.

Thanks in advance for any info.
Matt.

If you bought the Conroe you would wet yourself seeing the performance difference between the Conroe and your AMD rig, sell the rig and get yourself a Conroe mate.... REALLY!

Thats what I did,

I sold my opty 170 @ 2.8ghz

G skill HZ DDR

and upgraded to conroe with the same components as you are looking to get.
(see Sig)

I can tell you the performance increase is staggering ! :D
