Hi, have started shooting raw files and doing light pic editing in viewnx 2 i.e sharpness ,cropping etc.
At the min when i do any editing it seems to take ages to materialise on screen, so i was wondering what would be the cheapest componant upgrade route to take on my existing comp to beef it up a bit.

Intel Pentium G3220 3.0GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail

Kingston 60GB SSDNow V300 Drive SATA 6Gbs 3 2.5"

MSI H81M-P33 Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard

Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Thanks Clifford

Thanks stulid, there are seven i5 processors on the overclockers site, which one would you suggest, oh which ram also...link would be nice.

Try another raw editor first.

My raws are 25mb, I only go over 8gb when editing large panoramas.

Editing one at a time shouldn't need 4gb so just try that first.

Could you have terrible graphics card that is slow to draw the images?

Thanks Mcgraw, no graphics card...using the core i5 intergrated graphics.
The upgrade to i5 plus the 16gb ram has made the difference.

Consider a cheap nvidia card as photo editing software can sometimes make use of CUDA to speed up photo manipulation too.Not sure whether ViewNX2 uses it but an article back in 2012 (version 2.3.1 was latest) said that it didnt use CUDA but could in the future and version 2.3.1 or later now uses multicore CPU's.
