Yes, it's the old "shall I, shan't I" thread!

At the moment I've got an X1900XTX card which I'm running with XP Pro. I have Vista but I've not installed it yet, waiting for it to be a bit more rounded! The question I have is, would I notice a big difference if I upgraded to an 8800GTS 640 mb card over what I've already got. My monitor only supports up to 1680 x 1050 so an 8800GTS card would be fine. I've usually always bought ATI but have been reading that their new cards are not as good as the nVidea ones.

Yup, massive difference. I made almost the exact same upgrade back in February and I'm still mega impressed. :)

Like you, I usually buy ATI cards too, but the 8800 Series is really something.

Can open, worms everywhere. This thread will now turn into a massive argument. :(

Thanks for the replies guys. Wasn't sure what was meant about the can of worms but I've now read the thread so I hope this doesn't go down those lines!

I'm in 2 minds now whether to buy the 8800 gtx or the 8800 gts. I can afford to buy the gtx but in the latest custom pc they said it's not worth buying it if you're monitor doesn't go higher than 1680 x 1050. However, buying the ultra would keep me going for a while without further upgrading in6 months time.

Decisions, decisions :)
