Upgrade CPU / MB or add another 6950?

sadly you can no longer flash 6950's to 6970's, so you would have to buy another 6970 if you wanted 6970 speeds.

what power supply do you have, as you may need a bigger one to run two 6970's
 
do you play metro 2033 all the time? if not then dont let 1 game get you into spending £200+ just to be able to play it.
just get a decent sized SSD, and leave the rig for a few months, if the rig starts to struggle with games you play the most, then thats the time to upgrade.
 
Imo I think you should get an aftermarket cooler, overclock the 955 to 4.0Ghz+ and get another 6970, save you a little.

what brand psu have you got?

850W will be fine for two 6970's.

i have actually found some revision 1 6950's despite them not being made any more. however, at £250 you might be able to get some 6970's for that elsewhere (havent checked the price of 6970's for ages).

im thinking that the second graphics card will give you more of a boost than the i5 2500k would, but im very happy to be proved wrong here
 
i think it would be very difficult to push the phenoms 4GHz+ without adding some serious voltage, and will be hard to keep cool in air
