Hi guys first time here, I joined for some advice on upgrading my PC.

I am looking on upgrading my Old gaming rig, which is primarily used only for gaming.
I bought a cheap gaming rig years ago and as time has gone on I have added ram, GPU, HDD's and a new case. I have never built a rig from scratch but I know how to.
My CPU and mobo are quite old and the CPU is often bottlenecking the GPU in some games, mainly online FPS games.

here is my current specs:

Athalon II x4 640 3.2ghz
I cant remember MOBO but it's an atx
8GB corsair vengeance ram
asus gtx660 2gb
1tb WD HDD
500gb seagate HDD

The CPU is old but has done the job for me for quite some time.
I now have the money to waste on getting some new components and I can either use what is left of the rest to build another PC or sell them.

What I am thinking is getting an i5 K unlocked CPU a new mobo a new case and if needed a new PSU.
my budget is around £400 but I can stretch a little if I need a new PSU (I know never to skimp on a PSU) which I think I will need as I think my current PSU is a cheap one and I am not sure of its watts anyway.

I want a K unlocked CPU as I am, depending on your guys advice, going to either buy a pre overclocked gaming bundle from OverclockersUK, or keep the CPU at stock for a few years then overclock it myself down the line, as an experimental overclock, as I have never done it before.

So I will be able to reuse the GPU, ram and Hdd's from my build now, which I can and will upgrade later as and when I need.

I really do not know what I am looking for other than that I want a intel K unlocked CPU
I was originally thinking of the 4690k as I read that it is a good mid range CPU for gaming.

so should I go for a bundle like this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/defcon-3i-gigabyte-z97p-d3-intel-core-i5-4690k-4.20ghz-overclocked-bundle-bu-051-og.html
Or can you guys give me advice on buying suitable components for what I am looking for.

The bundle you linked to is good , here is another to consider but make sure the coolers in bundles will fit your case. A SSD is a must in any sytem theeses days and what psu do you have ?

Ok that looks really good, I don't need the SSD either I am fine with longer loading and boot times.
any Ideas on a suitable PSU please

Honestly, I'd really reccomend that you take the hit and add an ssd to your rig, it's not just loading times which benefit, your entire system will run so much more quicker as IO times drop to near nothing, every seek time for every OS file is now much quicker. Every person who I've chucked an ssd into their laptop now says they'd never go back to a mech drive :)

its not that I wouldnt want one its money, to me its a waste on a ssd when I have 2-3 hdds anyway. so its spending money on a computer to run faster, a function I have been dealing with for 20+ years anyway.

i'm sure in the future I will get one specifically for the OS and a few games

Your link doesnt work so what you have to do is when you go to your baskest scroll done the page and look for the bb code button at the bottom .Press it and it will bring up a page just copy the content of that page and then paste here.

ok thanks

Im asking about the case size because I have read the CPU fan is quite big, I cant really figure out if that puppy is going to fit in the case.
Also the PSU watts for everything and OC my GPU will be enough.
