just a quickie all, current system is:

7850BE
4850 512Mb
4Gb PC6400 OCZ reaperX
(other stuff)

im looking to upgrade either CPU or Gfx card shortly. Can I ask for your thoughts on which of the following options would represent the best choice please..

1. AMD Phenom x2 955BE; or,
2. ATI 5770

Im interested in knowing if either would be bottlenecked by the remaining part (ie, new cpu bottlenecked by old gfx card; and vice versa)

cheers.

In terms of raw performance there's a bigger gap between those CPUs than GPUs.

Obviously the 5770 would mean you had DX11 support (and a card that potentially overclocks very nicely). However, I'd suggest do the CPU now as that'd benefit your system in other ways too and grab the 5770 later when you can afford to treat yourself again.

I too agree that the CPU would be a wiser choice, I think you would get much more from upgrading it rather than the gpu.
