not sure what to do here...

I've got a 3gb AMD 7950 but now need a replacement monitor as my current 1920x1080 one had given up the ghost.
ideally i'd go for a 2560x1440 monitor but I'm not sure my current gfx card has enough grunt to run at that resolution very well.

I'm assuming that 1080 is going to be "old" tech over the next couple of years and don't want to buy a monitor now only to have to replace it again in a couple of years when I eventually upgrade the GFX card.

Anyone got experience of running a 7950 at 1440?

I had a 7970 at 1440 for the past 6 months or so.

I could run all but the most demanding games at the full settings. The only ones I'd struggle with were games like Crysis 3, Far Cry 4, Evil Within, Metro Last Light, GTA V and of course The Witcher 3. But even then I could get a good FPS by lowering one or two settings down from ultra to high.

I found it a bit pants m8, i bought another cheap 7950 and overclocked them, in crossfire i got about the same fps as a 980 then. Was by far the cheapest option for me to upgrade to 1440p.

I like all the settings virtually maxed out though, depends what ya think is acceptable FPS and acceptable quality settings.
