So I'm at a cross road guys

Currently have 8350 and fury x and get issues with spikes in fps

Have a 2560 x 1080 21.9 34" lg um68 monitor 75hz

In major titles struggle to maintain refresh rate at ultra settings

So my question is do I go skylake new cpu mobo. And ram and keep fury x
Or keep 8350 and get gtx 1080

In a ideal world I would get new gpu and cpu but can't afford both

Cheers

i mainly play sim racing games which are not the most taxing on my system but when i play the odd other title witcher 3 and few other rpg games i get stutters in all fairness it handles most i throw at it with ease

cpu is @ 4.8ghz (haven't updated sig) and gpu slight overclock on custom loop so no thermal throttling on gpu just get stutters and fps drops

and i know these days game coding is a issue how well its made ect

im not pro amd or anything but the system is good and runs well it may be aging but for sole gaming handles most it sits on my simulator i built for racing games but enjoy the odd rpg

Does afterburner show the gpu at a constant 100 percent use? If so upgrade that, if not then the cpu. The card isn't thermally throttling is it?

No I said in previous comment I'm on custom loop I have a 360mm rad for cpu and another 360 for gpu in parvum l1.0 case complete over kill I know but card hits 45c max temp after hours of gaming cpu @ 4.8ghz only hits 43c on core so not heat related

when I went from the 8350 to the i5 4690k I noticed my games were a lot more smoother and noticed a large improvement with min FPS in dirt 3. only game I would say I had some spikes in was GTA V

since getting the i7 even though a lot of folk say it doesnt improve max frame rate I would say GTA V has had an increase in frames and again the min FPS is a bit higher and I don't see any spikes

I play dirt Rally and it is super smooth I used to see the odd stutter with the i5 but never seen it with the i7

Thanks for the advice guys just used hw info and msi riva statistics software ran the games I play most and my gpu hitting 100% all the time and my cpu cores are around 65% depending on title so little less and some more on cpu all settings ultra and my fps is 75 then dips to low 60 high 50 in certain points of various games

Would this be the cpu causing this?

Think I'm gonna buy skylake and save for 1080 gpu as well as I wish to go triple monitor for my racing simulator

Unless you guys think my current gpu will handle triple monitor with skylake cpu
