ok, a mate upgraded his pc today, went from:

asus a8n sli premium, 4200+ (dual, 939) 2gig generic ram, stock cooler.

upgraded to:

asus p5k p35, q6600, 2gig ballistix pc5300, stock cooler (soon to be a tuniq though)

He unplegged and removed and added new parts (not reakising that the dvd drive could go in the ide port, as he though u needed 2.. )

Got him to uses his dvd drive in the ide port, and for some reassn there is no power going to it, but it is detected in the bios. He's made sure the jumpers are correct, ide cable is the right way around, tried different power connectors, re-seated cables etc... im at a loss as to what to try, the last thing he did was burb a dvd before upgrading, so was working then...

Any ideas?

TIA

now that is strange i woul assume as its being detected though that there is at least some power going to it. normally something like this to me would suggest that somethinghas broken in the actually drive. i take itthe door doesnt pop open no flahing light.

no light, no door opening.

His other drive was broken, not working in his mums machine...

So he's found another drive, that has power, it opens, and now this one isn't being detected by the bios... and it was pulled straight from a working machine...

Jumpers are right, plugged in correctly, set to use ide in the bios.. now i really am confused :\
