Hey guys, been out of the loop in the graphics department for a while, so i'm not sure what the performance is like these days.

Basically, what is a considerable upgrade from my current 280 gtx in SLI?

Ideally i'd like a single card, nvidia and preferably a 5 series cards, as from what i can recall, the 4 series were hot and noisy, is this still the case?

Games i'd be playing would be BF3, FSX, Crysis 2 etc

Cheers

A gtx 295 or basically 275's are almost equivalent to a 480/570. Depending on g
The sli profile.
From what I remember the 275 was almost neck and neck with a 280

Yeah nothing is going to be a massive improvement in terms of framerate except 6990 and GTX590 (or GTX470 SLI or 6950 CF).

That said going to say a GTX570 or higher would be noticeably smoother in games even with similiar framerates (due to more consistant framerates with less time spent at minimum fps) without the reliance on SLI, with the addition of newer feature support and faster in some games by a good margin.

Unless you have a pressing need for DX11 tho (which seems unlikely atm) I'd probably hold out see what happens with the next generation of cards over the next few months.

I'm using sli 260s and waiting for the 28nm cards, can't see the point in upgrading to the current generation. Just hope AMD release their cards soon as the wait is killing me :p
