Finally looking to upgrade my Q6600, most likely with a i5 2500k unless anyone has any better suggestions.

Only really looking at the cpu, mobo and ram (corsair hx620w should still be ok, right?)

Do you think its possible to shoehorn a suitable replacement for my HD 4850 into the build for the budget?

i5 2500K is a good choice :)

Your PSU will be fine.

6850 vs 4870 [4850's not on their list I'm afraid, this will give you an idea of the improvement anyway]

Thanks for all the ideas, keep them coming.

Ok the 7850 has me interested and is quite a big jump on the benchmarks over the 6850 but sadly takes me a little beyond budget.

Would taking the 6850 be a little short sighted?

The 6850 is still a good choice for the price. If you can afford an extra £100, 7850 is a very nice GPU - it's all down to budget. A 6850 will still give you a nice boost over your 4850 :)
