Hi guys,

I'm looking for some advice on upgrading my main desktop for the games listed above plus anyhting else on the horizon.

I currently use the machine for gaming and converting my dvd/bluray collection.

I have about £300 to spend and I'm not sure If I'd be better upgrading the CPU and Mobo or the GPU, I'm looking at either an I5 2500k and Z68 board with my existing 460 GTX or keep my CPU and Mobo and change the 460 for a 6950 2GB.

I have a OCZ StealthXstream 600W and an Antec P180 mini so any board would have to be matx.

Will the Bulldozer chips be that much faster than an I5?

I don't quite understand why you'd recommend BD over a typical 2500k set up when you have no idea how it will perform?

this

however nobody understands stulid's reasoning he specs asrock boards to everyone wanting sandybridge and they stupidly buy it, he must be on commision and/or laughing inside masivly at the people listening to him and buying that ****

Whats wrong with Asrock?

where do i start?

there crap, they run slower than most boards of the same catogry, the audio codec is bad very bad infact, the board has less features of other rivals when overclocking making the few quid you save buying this board bad value and could be saved elsewere in the build.

there a budget board trying to be a premium board and they just havnt got it right yet. I mean c'mon any company that thinks coating caps in gold paint will fool people into thinking there somthing there not is just wrong on so many levels.

Also just because asus own asrock does nto mean you are getting the same quality from both companys (im not trying to asus cheap boards are the way to go)

While id agree you do put a lot of effort into this section and you do probably read up on some things you have just made lots of people make the wrong purchase when reccomending Asrock

From the amount of times I've seen Asrock boards recommended I've been contamplating making the change :p

Thanks for the save.

No Problem

I Would compare the Asrock boards to that of PC-chips nothing more, they are the tat end of the market, keep trying to polish that turd Asrock.

So the 2500k is the better choice now rather than waiting for BD which might not be any better/faster.

I think I will stick with upgrading to the 2500k with a Gigabyte GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3 as this will give me the Z68 features with the ability to SLI/Xfire later on if I need to.
