This is my existing spec

Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H Intel H55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 microATX Motherboard
Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156) - Retail
Asus GeForce GTX 460 1024MB DirectCU GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Geil Black Dragon 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Triple Channel (GB36GB1333C9TC)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (ST3250410AS)

What can we do for £500. Can there still be a use for the 460 if I get a newer card?

Will probably need a new PSU with this.

Have you overclocked the g/card & CPU yet? This would be a good starting point as Haswell (intel's 4th Gen CPU) will be out in 3 months.

Still sketpical about overclocking. Do you anticipate the Haswell being affordable along with other components with the given budget?

Hard to say to be honest. I've read that more details are due for release in about 7 weeks time.

What is causing you to be sceptical about overclocking?

Fried my last GPU, cannot afford for anything to go wrong this time as I have uni deadlines approaching. Do not want to invest in any cooling - would rather keep the money to spend on the upgrade.

if you wanted to bring your pc more up to date and to get a performance gain you could go with that, it would allow you to play most games on ultra.

although if you wanted to keep your motherboard and cpu you could go with this and overclock the cpu
