Upgrade for my 7870xt?

OK, I'm now running on a I7-4790K, so considering upgrading my nearly 2yr old 7870xt to something a littel faster. Noticed in Elite Dangerous for example I had to turn shadow quality down to keep 60fps.


So any recommendations for a reasonably priced card that could potentially run at 2560x1440 as well? (I'm currentl;y at 1920x1200)

I have an 850W power suppy which I'm sure is more than enough for the processor a graphics card and processor!

I would say a AMD R290 would fit the bill.

Pretty big step up from a 7870.

GTX 970. The cheapest you can find, they all run cool and quiet and overclock well.

Just been looking at Radeon 290s and NVidia 970s and it seems the NVidia 780s run a 100W lighter on power usage and are just as powerful (if not more so)?
