Looking to upgrade my operating hard drive from an old 250gb ssd on my Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 motherboard. looking at one of these Samsung
850 EVO Series M.2 500GB SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive (MZ-N5E500BW). Would it work in my motherboard or should I stick with a ssd

And that riser card will be borked for bandwidth as they are 4X and the best an X58 board can provide it is X4 @ PCIE 2.0. Perf will be halved.

Honestly, the fastest connection you can get to a 2.5" SSD on X58 is 5Gbps, since it's a 1X PCIE link, not a true native link on the chipset.

Don't bother is what I'm saying. Current SSD works? Keep it. Need moar power? Upgrade the whole thing. X58 CPUs are all 2008 technology. Ooooooold.
