Upgrade from 1660Ti for 1080P Gaming

I get that, but when you are doing things on a budget long term view is almost as important the cost. If you spend £180 on a 5700X3D that is a waste of money. Pars listed below but with 32GB OF fast RAM, 16GB will be £30-40 less.

Data from a website that cannot be linked.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI PRO A620M-E Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard
Memory: Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6200 CL32 Memory
Video Card: Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB Video Card
~Total: £573

Stick the bundle on FB/Gumtree and don't just sell it to the first people that come along, also price it higher and than you want then offer a lower price, people are generally happy if they think they got a deal. Or if you put in on MM here if you have access, you'd easily get £180 for those parts, even more so if yo have boxes and accessories for them.

Total spend would be £400 if you got £180 for your bits, and that includes a heatsink for £10 if you want it, and another £10 if you fancy a nice Thermalright tower jobbie.

All great advice. I'm just conscious of requirement slip - I started out looking at whether there was cheapish GPU that I could add to my current system to improve my 1080P gaming.
I'm kind of in the same position but with a 5600x so my CPU is stronger.

I'm just going to upgrade GPU and see what that brings me. I would also do the same as, like you said you came here for a £250/£350 upgrade to get your FPS back up to playable with out it looking like a PS1 game.

Buy the 9060XT 16GB and then sell your before card and then see how you go. You only need to upgrade when it's not giving you what you need, just like your situation currently.

Have a look on YouTube for ppl running the 3600 with the 9060XT 16GB and also if you can see what the uplift would give you with a higher CPU.

I personally would also go with the sell the CPU/mono/ram bundle sooner and get onto AM5. That way, you're selling it while it still retains value. Also like someone said, list it for £30-£50 more as a bundle and you can then decide it over time. This is what I'll be doing and prob upgrading my 5600x to a 9600X or something.

Good Luck and just get that GPU upgrade done first.

I’d agree, OP wanted a better GPU and the 9060xt seems presently the best value / future outlook for the budget and needs and more so if you sold the existing GPU.

I understand the long term notion … but by the read of it the OP isn’t looking for the latest and greatest nor needs it. Even after a GPU upgrade, his am4 platform still has some legs for him via a better cpu and memory ( cause they’ll only continue to come down in price ) which he can do later. Let’s say you did that in a year or so for another wee bump up in performance. That could easily take you to the end of 2026 and into 2027 realistically. The current thinking is am6 around the 2027 ish mark.

If AMD sticks to current form of running platforms for a number of years, then 2027 might be a good time to jump onto the new platform for both a big jump in performance, and a proper long term outlook. As it stands, AM5 platform has had 2 generations on it, likely a third coming, and then it could well move onto AM6. I’m not sure that for the OP, jumping to AM5 now would really be worth it versus holding out and moving later.
