Upgrade from 1GB

I have an GA-K8NF9-SI motherboard with 2x512MB modules which run in dual channel mode, OS is 32-bit XP. I need more memory for intensive Photoshop use and I'm not sure which of the following changes will be most effective (I'm assuming over 3GB is pointless with the OS):
1. Add 2x512MB - total 2GB
2. Add 2x1GB - total 3GB but apps may only see 2GB total
3. Replace the 2x512MB and get 2x1GB - could use less power than (1) but seems bit of a waste really.
The motherboard manual recommends matching pairs, but nothing about matching all four.
I'd appreciate any comments/help.

I would go with adding 2x1gb to the existing 2x512mb... get the most out of that old 32bit OS

Ye agreed 3GB will see you through for ages

32bit only reads 3.4gb ram i think.
depends how much your paying for those 1gb sticks x 2
you might be able to buy 2 x 2gb at same cost-ish

Thanks for replies. I'll go for adding 2x1GB (3GB total) as OS is 32bit.
