I'm about to buy a 2700k, I game, program, do a fair bit of CAD and render. I know the hyperthreading will help a lot with rendering and programming and being a 2700k I should HOPEFULLY get a better clock making all the single core processes run better.

I've never actually properly looked into the benefit of an i7 in gaming terms though, what should I expect? I play a lot of AAA titles, currently running through Just Cause 3, Black Ops 2, BF4 and AC. Will i get a significant fps bump in these?

Significant is probably the wrong word.

BF4 definitely you'll get a good improvement as it can use multi threads and does very well.

If it costs you less than £100 (after selling your i5) then it would be worth while.

Yeah It'll cost me a lot less than 100 once i sell my i5 :) I was determined to do it anyway purely for the other reasons just wanted to know any gaming benefits. :)
