Hi,

I have a 3 year old iiyama Prolite G2773HS its been a brilliant monitor, no issues what so ever and would happily buy another iiyama monitor but they don't seem to have anything worth upgrading to

I currently have a 290X and plan to change it next year but before that I would like to upgrade the monitor but I have no idea what I want other than higher resolution, no smaller than 27" and a I cant stand glossy screens

Is there anything worth upgrading to? I keep reading about how bad Acer and Asus are with quality control so want to avoid those, I suppose the main thing is the cost difference between 1440p and 4k, is it worth going for a 4k monitor now and hope that the next run of GPUs will run 4k or should I settle for 1440p?

I mainly play FPS and want good visuals and decent frame rate, my next GPU will more than likely be AMD so Freesync would be nice

Any experiences and recommendations greatly received

Thanks

1440p is a big jump from 1080p and it's a lot easier to drive than 4k. I'd be tempted to go with that.

4k is appealing but cards aren't up to it just yet. Next gen should be. By then 4k monitors will have improved too.

Yeah that's the thing I don't want to go 1440p and then regret it if the new cards are able to run 4k a lot better than the current gen

Just how big a jump is 1440p from 1080p, will I picking my jaw up off the floor or is it underwhelming? I've never seen a game running in 4k or 1440p so its hard to guess
