Upgrade from 4870 for bf3

I would like to have the rig in spec play the upcoming battlefield 3 at a decent frame rate (nice and smooth), with ingame settings on high if possible. Currently wondering if I should wait for the ati 7 series cards to be avilable or should i go for a a nvidia 460/470. I want to be gaming at 1900x1200, what would you guys suggest? Thanx

Best to wait for the beta release next month to see how it performs. With the alpha trial, a single 470 gave me 40-50 fps. 1920x1200 high setting.

depends how much you want to spend , 5850 and upwards would be good. also might as well wait 2 weeks before release as amd hinted new cards will be bundled with bf3.

if i was buying 7 series card i would upgrade cpu as well but i see u have it highly clocked.

for my second pc , i have have q6600 @ 3.6 and 5850 2 gig , should play bf3 alright but im only going to use 1680x1050

Note, this was on the first version of the alpha client, most people reported better fps with the updated version.
