First my specs (taken from Everest):

Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2880 MHz (9 x 320)
Asus P5Q Motherboard
4Gb Corsair XMS2 DHX
ATI Radeon HD 4870 512Mb
OCZ ModStream 520 PSU
ViewSonic VX2025w Series 20" LCD

I am looking for a decent card that is likely to run Battlefied 3 when it comes out. I read somewhere the demo that was shown was run on a 580 card but I'm looking at the GTX 480 or 560 or even the 570. I can push for a 580 but I'm not sure if it's really worth the extra money at the moment.
I only buy a new graphics card every 3 or 4 years.
Im also looking to upgrade my monitor to a 23" so will eventually want to run games in 1080p.

I'm undecided between all the cards below

Asus GeForce GTX 560TI
GeForce GTX 480
Zotac GeForce GTX 470
Zotac GeForce GTX 470 AMP Edition
Zotac GeForce GTX 580

Any other recommendations also considered.

Personally, I'd have thought a 580 would be pure overkill and a waste of money for your rig. I'd find the money better invested in Sandybridge... Or an SSD.

Perhaps a 6950 flashed, or a 5870. Ofc the 470/570's are good cards too... But look at other upgrades on your rig before dumping ~£400 on a 580.

Thanks, I have no idea what those are that you mentioned but I will google them and find out. It just shows how far behind the times I am. I need to catch up.

I went from 2 4870s to a GTX 580 and its awesome to the point where the only regret I have is wishing I did it sooner. Much better drivers aswell so far, all my games have been running silky smooth :)
