I'm looking to upgrade.
I would like a really noticeable improvement, but dont want to spend much more than 100GBP, give or take a bit!
I'm not wanting to change mobo or cpu/ram tbh!

I was lookin' at NV-8800GT/S and ATI-4850??

Its all a bit confusing! I generally play at 1280x?? on a 17"TFT if that helps.

Thanks for the advice.

I have the 8800GTS and workrs a treat at much higher res to yours but then again I havnt seen the new ATI cards...

4850 is definitely better/faster.

But i'd save up for a bigger monitor. 17" is silly, and a 4850 is overkill for it's res.

I'm in the same boat considering a replacement for my 7900 GTX (with 17" TFT). I'm lagging behind in the CPU department with a 4200 AMD, and I've got concerns over power consumption as I don't see the point of having a top line card if not gaming often.

Anyway is the ATI 3870 any good? I was considering it as its got similar power consumption figures. 7900 GTX consumption and 3870 consumption.

Playing at native resolution 1280x1024 Toms hardware only shows Warhammer: Mark of Chaos performing better on the 7900 GTX (still got to install this game).
