So, I think it's about time I upgraded from my 7970 which has done me well but it's struggling a little now on newer games. I play at 1080p and want to play everything maxed out if possible. Got a budget of about 350 pounds. I was hoping the RX 480 was going to be my answer but it doesn't seem like it with some of the reviews it's getting.

My rig is 7970, i5 3570k, 8gb RAM.

What would you suggest?

Cheers.

If you like everything maxed and your budget is £350 get a brand new 980Ti from OcUK, it's easily faster than two 7970s. If you don't mind potentially turning down a few settings for the latest most demanding games then a 8GB 480 will do, would wait for the cooler aftermarket cards though.

Would a 980ti be ok with my system? I only have a 500w power supply. Would anything cause a bottleneck or am I good to go? I haven't messed with over clocking by the way so the i5 is at 3.4ghz.

In the same situation. I have been waiting to upgrade my 7970 for months.

Going to wait for the 480 custom coolers and then decide.

Yeah as long as you're power supply is a good quality branded one it will be fine. I use way less than 500w while gaming with an i7 CPU OCd to 4.4GHz and 980Ti.

Hopefully some 480's with triple fans will come out dual fan cards are so noisy compared to 3

I have a 7950 and need an upgrade as well

I would wai a bit longer if I were you ... Interesting month ahead with AIB 480'sand 1060 as well .. On the other hand, if you have the money to spare I would go for a 1070 probably
