currently have an i7 8700k paired with a RTX3060ti. i already have a Z490 motherboard with a low end i3 in a spare PC, would a worthwhile upgrade be getting an i9 10900kf (10core) and is the £300 mark worth it for a new one. Im in no rush so i could also wait for any 10 or 11 gen i7/i9 to popup in members market

depending on what your 8700k is clocked at ofc
the IPC of the 8700k and the 10900k is the same, so unless the games you play are highly multithreaded there won't be massive benefit from the 10900k

in any case, a 8700k/3060ti build is pretty well balanced

Based on HUB's Starfield results, I would say no, because you can get a 7500F bundle for just over £300 and it out performs it, with a board that has some future upgrade potential, while a modern CPU like a 5600 or 12400 is comparable/a bit faster (in TPU's results here) and a 13600K is a lot faster.

I’d just stick with the 8700k unless your upgrading the GPU as well, save the cash and maybe get Zen5/Arrow lake next year.

Im only really playing Hell Let Loose at the moment at 1440p and its not that demanding, im not into the normal AAA anymore as they are just console ports mostly... although i am temped by cityskylines 2 but looks a bit of a buggy mess, so will let that settle in before i get it.
