Is it worth me upgrading my trusty old 8800gts 640?
I am planning on buying a 24" screen at the end of the month cos at the moment my 19" has a max res of 1440x900.

So far everything I have seems to run ok on my existing card, though I drool at the thought of a spanking new gpu.

I do play some online like STO and hope to play the knights of old rep when that is out. Tend to play arcade and fps on xbox 360, use the PC for more strategical games, fsx and a little DIY website work.

I haven't got crysis, metro-thingy or other really high demand games at the moment but that could change if I had a card such as the 2gb 6859.

I think my main concern is switching to a larger screen and then being tempted occasionally for more intense games.

Any thoughts?

I think your card will struggle at the new resolution. You could always see how it fares but I think it's a safe bet that the frame rate will nose dive, particularly if you like most settings pushed to the hilt.

I'm still on an 8800gts 640 and playing at 1080p. Still gets through most titles with the settings turned down at that resolution but I'm looking to upgrade soon
