Upgrade from 8800GTX

Yea wait and see what the 7 series brings. We will hopefully get to see price and performance tomorrow. On the card you linked i would say its priced to high to be a good option even though it is probably one of the best 6970's if not the best.
 
It is the best. The power color Devil 13 looks a wee bit nicer imo (and I love the back plate and packaging) but alas, it doesn't clock as well as the full blown binned Lightning.

You can get the next best thing now for £267. I guess it just depends what you wanted it for? most actual Lightning cards will be lucky to get a game played on them. They will be stripped off and put under DICE to see how high they can clock. That's basically what they were designed for. Shame really. The 480 Lightning was a stunning card in most every aspect, but most of them will be blown to merry hell and lying in a landfill somewhere :D
 
Cheers fella's for input. Yeah I think I will consider waiting. Hoping to see if the introduction of the 7900 series encourages price drops on current gen but I'm getting mixed views on that one.

Noticed you were having, let's say a slightly heated debate but mostly (for my benefit) educational and entertaining.
