Hi Guys,

Looking to upgrade for ArmA2,

I currently have a C2D 6750 and a BFG 8800GT 512Mb card. I also have 4 Gb RAM - forget which speed, but I will keep that and just think I will swap out the card and CPU.

Looking at the 4890's, but would like to know what the Nvidia equivalent is to this card:

and this card:

I am a bit out of touch with hardware, however from what I have read, the prices for those 4890's is a bargain, so I am interested to know what the Nvidia equivalent would be so I can compare the prices.

Also, I know there is another thread asking if the 4890's are 4870's, but would I see much of a difference compared to the two mentioned above if I just got one of these 4870's:

Would I see a good performance increase with any of these cards over my 8800? I game at a resolution of 1680x1050.

Cheers in advance guys! :)

a well overclocked GTX260/275 is probably what your after. i went from a clocked 8800GT to a clocked GTX260/216, and i needed it, as i upgraded to 1920x1200 res from 1680x1050.

Cheers for the responses guys, looking at the prices and looking at the chart, it looks like the 4890's (£150+ ones) are a good choice then?

IMO i would keep the card,And get another later on,I meen come on the 8800gt is still very fast,And i can play all games on high (apart from GTA 4 and crysis) But it's up to you :-)

High is fine in DX9 mode on Crysis.

The voice of reason, which I rarely listen to when I can have things more shiny.

But when that game comes along every few years or so and I have to turn graphics options down to medium, my browser finger twitches to the OcUK shop pages and not just the forum pages. ;)

I wish I had the control you have, but when I know it can look better I just cannot help it, even if it does look good on medium.

what games do you have to put on to medium? COD 4 and COD5 pumps out a average 80 fps..So i think thats verrrry good ;)

agreed, done the same thing well sort of i went from 8800gt sli to gtx260-216 sli and i'm very happy i can now play on my 42" 1080p tv :D

the thing you need to remember is to really get the max out of a higher card than an 8800gt is to upgrade you screen to a 1080p or higher the only thing i couldn't play at max settings on my 8800gt's was crysis that was @ 1680x1050 here's a little build log sort of things with a few benchmarks before and after:cool:
