Upgrade from a 8800GTS OC 512MB

The 2GB version of the GTX560Ti cost about £50 more than the 1GB version. While the 1GB is fine with 4xAA in vast majority of the games, a few demanding titles you might have to drop the AA down to 2x to reduce VRAM usage to minimise the performance hit.

So at the end of the day, it's really down to your budget and expectation. If you don't mind running games at 2xAA or 0xAA in those few demanding titles, you could get the 1GB version and save yourself £50.

thanks guys,

yeah not worth causing myself issues for the sake of £50 really, I'll continue to look round, next year I'll be doing the whole rig, upgrade to an 1155 i7, don't think the cost thus for for a 2011 i7 is justifiable for me ;)

thanks

Do bare in mind next gen card will be out over the next few months, so it'd probably be best if you can wait...if fact, I strongly suggest you to.

When new gens cards arrive, one of the following two things...or both could happen:
a) 7850/7870 2GB at sub-£150 price, with compariable performance to 6950 2GB but with lower power consumption and lower temp due to moving from 40nm process to 28nm process

b) 6950 2GB/GTX560Ti 2GB price drop down to £150 range

I think AMD are unlikely to undercut their existing cards with significant performance gains. GPU manufactures are in the business of making money. Performance will improve but the price will increase to reflect this.

New cards will come out and then prices will slip over time as competition and yields are optimised. There will be some deals but I doubt it will be a give away.

Personally I just bought a GTX560ti ... it's in the post. Yes I could get it cheaper if I wait a little more but I want to play now and over Xmas I'm off for 2 weeks.
I'll then have 2 options in the future, sell or reuse the card in another PC or buy a second discounted one for SLI.

Damn...I'm jealous! Very good stuffs you got there :p

All great...except for may be the 2TB Seagate HDD. Seagate's HDD's reliablility is known to be very much hit or miss...with some HDD dying within couple of months. Hope you are lucky and without issue with that HDD.

Hi all,

Been having serious issues with Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H and the Xonar STX, keeps disappearing, seems a common fault with the STX

in the end moved to to the PCIEX8 slot from the PCIEX4 slot wanted to put it in PCIEX1_1 but the DH14 is in the way, or the PCIEX1_3 but its too close to my GTX670 DCUIIT

I reckon I'll move all this into my server rig and sell my Thecus N5200
