Upgrade from a Tri-X 290 | 1440p 144hz Screen

Hi Chaps,

Looking at the need to upgrade my 290 Tri-X, only managed 60 odd FPS in the BF1 beta, so not overly impressed.

Have a 1440p 144hz freesync monitor. Now, I'm not totally required to have an AMD card because of it, I can live without freesync if its going to get me more FPS for the cash.

Want to spend as little as possible... Well, don't want to get the top end thing possible, as I just can't afford it. Bang for buck. Whats the best thing to get? I could stretch to a 1070 (or at least a 2nd hand one), but is it worth it over say a 480?

There isn't really a worthwhile AMD upgrade available yet, If you was not looking at an fps counter as you played would the freesynced 60 fps have been a problem?

A problem? No, but 120hrz+ feels so much nicer. I found myself turning the settings all down to low just to get closer to it when playing.

Will wait for Vega then! Worst case, I get a 1070/80 then if its no good. Cheers chaps!
