Hi decided i want to build a crossfire caperble system to replace my old AGP.

Going for an X38 based motherboard, possible DFI looks good.

question I have for you Graphics guru's is.

whats the cheapest card i can put in today, while i wait to see what happens with ATI in May / June as rumours are a new card chip is to be released then.

I need to build the basics now rather than wait, as the wife could spend the budget on clothes (summer range), if I dont.

Will i also notice a difference in quality over my AGP 850XTpe in the short term.

Thanks

Bowza

9600 would be a good stop gap or maybe a 3850.If you get a ATI card you just might be able to pair it with the new 4*** cards.I say might becuase at the mo i dont think you can pair 3*** with a 2*** card. And both would be a nice step up from a 850 had one myself pci model PE.

Personally I'd spend 3 times that & be happier whilst waiting for the "latest". Bear in mind if you get the "latest" whatever, you will pay top dollar for it, it will be cheaper in a month & not the "latest" within 2 months. I'd consider getting a more capable card, but only you can decide as it is your money if £30 for 2 months use of a lesser card is value.
