hi all,

Decided to do an upgrade on a budget (under £400) if possible. I'm keeping my case, 1900xt, dvd drive, HDD, PSU for the moment and have vista x64 on order at the moment.

So far i've come up with this spec, I want the best bang for buck and i'll be having a dabble with OC'ing.

will be better for OCing, x38 isnt needed yet unless you want 2x 16xPCIE for CF and p35 works well enough anyway for overclocking (as proven by many fellow overclockers)

looks pretty good, not sure about the x38 m/b though. I've heard mixed things about them, might turn into another 975x fiasco. Might be worth looking at a P35 based board.

Also if you can plan on clocking you might want to invest in a more high end cooler.

hmm, so p35 is the way to go at the moment until x38 has established itself? I won't b needing crossfire anyway as i'll upgrade this 1900xt at some point rather than getting a second card.

While PCE-E 2.0 is a nice thing to have it isn't worth an extra £60 as by the time graphics cards are being limited in PCI-E 1.0 the rest of your spec will be obsolete.

I'd go with a quad core, 4 GB RAM and a P35 motherboard.
