Upgrade from AMD64 3500+

I would keep that until you move to a different platform. There are going to be no more 939 processors and 2.2Ghz with an 11x multiplier make for a chip that should overclock well. I've really not seen anything that makes me want to upgrade to a dual core chip, as no games are really taking advantage of it yet. What do you use your computer for?

Whats the rest of your system specs, you might benefit more from a graphics cards upgrade if your main use is gaming.

Ovwerclcok the CPU you have to 2.5-2.6 and buy another 1Gb or RAM. This should keep you happy for the short term :D

I wonder if there is even much point going 2GB RAM right now. They are not exactly dirt cheap (not that different from DDR2 667), and the next upgrade will likely be on a DDR2 platform. I don't see 2GB of PC3200 going for much then. 1GB is not that bad IMO. To each their own. Personally, I'll just overclock and stick with that CPU until the end of the year and see if Conroe is all that it is looking to be and switch platform if it is.

Yeah a fair point dude. Comes down to money i guess and whether there is a need for more ram, if the system is currently coping with whats being thrown at it then id leave it be, or overclock ;)

I think the RAM issue also depends on how much video RAM you have. I think that a 512mb card should be able to hold most or if not all of the texture info needed within a game, allowing the system RAM and the HDD to be used for other things. It's when the video RAM is overwhelmed that you get large drop offs in performance, I believe.
