Im looking for an upgrade from my ATI Radeon X1800XT.

I been looking at this card.

This Week Only Offer
BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
£119.99
(£140.99)

thats this weeks offer only.

Whats the difference between GTS, GTX, and GT?

If this a decent upgrade?

In 3dmark 06, im getting just over 5200
3dmark 05, just over 10000.
3dmark 03, 20000.

I was hoping this card get me over 10k

Also would it be lot better upgrading to Vista to make a huge difference since they are DX10 cards?

You can check my PC specs below.

Yes it will be a big upgrade. 3dmark should be somewhere there depending if running stock or overclocked (or even higher).

you are best going for the card you suggested unless you want top end cards
GT is best bang for buck atm

just one more question i have to ask is a 400w PSU enough to run this card? or even the GTX version?

I used to have a 580w hiper PSU but that packed up last year when it took out my mobo and cpu too!, the i upgraded to this system core2duo 6600, with abit board in my sig, and its been great on 400w from pc world for now. But if im getting a more powerful GFX card?

Ohh, well, that depends on the PSU I suppose, what else you've got in your system, and if you have overclocked your CPU etc.

Even with a top quality PSU I would rule the 8800GTX out of this one.

The 8800GT/GTS 512mb MIGHT be ok, but it all depends.

You'll be cutting it close.

As for the 8800GT card you've chosen, unless you want the Warranty, I'd probably go £15 more for the Point of View 8800GTS 512mb.

Have one myself, runs everything like a dream, and vents hot air out of the back of the case (Thats always a plus).

EDIT**

I've just had a snoop around, and it seems the X1800XT uses 110watts under load.

I'm pretty sure the 8800GT also uses that amount, or very near to it. The 8800GTS 512mb uses abit more I think.

So, providing your using said 400watt PSU in your current setup, I don't think you should have too many problems.

Just for your info, the HD3870 has a MAXIMUM Power consumption rate of 110 watts, and the HD3850 is alittle less, around 90-100 watts.

Hope this helps :)

ok just ordered a new psu, the BFG 8800 GTX card and another 2 gig of Gell Ram which i have 2gig before for a bargain price at moment of 39.99!

rofl i ordered monday afternoon at 2pm, arrived next day at 11:20am!

Awesome card, i removed my old ati and software, installed latest drivers, ran 3dmark and got 10435 3DMarks !

My old x1800xt only got 5217 3DMarks lol.

Im lucky it just about fitted in my case with about 2 inches to spare!

This 8800GTX rocks!

Could have got 90% of that performance for half the price TBH by going with the GT and your old PSU (it would have worked because as said above the GT uses less power than your old X1800 XT).
