I am looking to upgrade from my outdated ATI X800, but I don't want to spend more than £70 (second hand cards would also be great, to try and stay within that budget).

I was looking X1650 and HD 2600, but to be honest I don't have a clue what I am looking for. I rather stick with ATI cards, because that is all I have ever had, but I am willing to consider the NVidia ones :)

Id look for a second hand x1900 for around that price or a bit less, will blow those 8600/2600's away, and also that x1800 XL posted above, thats way to expensive now for that, i wouldn't pay more than about £40 for an x1800 XL.

Are the X1950s worth considering? Are there any particular X1900 models that are good, and are recommended?

Personally, I'd say any with 512mb of ram (256 is too low these days, but it does depend on what resolution you play at) like this one!

I usually play at 1280x1024 :)

I was just curious about the model/brand etc because there are always some that can be flash modded, or easily overclocked etc :)

About the same as me. (720p ;) ) Games like Fear/Oblivion use nearly all that RAM up, even at that resolution.

Review page 9 shows Fear scores.

If you spend a little extra and get the XT or XTX version you will have the 48 pixel shaders in comparison to 36 with the pro series.

That's what I'd do in your situation.

I also don't want something too advanced for my system specification:

AMD Opteron 165 2.7Ghz (overclocked)
2GB PC3200 RAM
1.32TB HDD Storage
Creative Audigy 2
17" TFT Monitor

I seriously doubt he is gonna get an x1950xt for around £70 though. A second hand x1950pro quite likely, or an x1950gt that he can clock to pro levels.

What PSU do you have as the x19xx's can be pretty power hungry cards?

What is the difference between the GT / Pro / XT models?

I have a 450W Enermax PSU, but it is powering:
3 x HDDS
2 x DVD ROM Drives

As well as the usual components... should be alright though, right?

I'd say so :)

ps. I will win that 3million :D

So... the ATI X1950 Pro seems like the best choice, but before I make a thread in the Wanted forum, I want to check what would be the best make to buy and also whether it will be alright for my system (in terms of games running with the specifications mentioned earlier on in this thread)?

try and find a low price X19xx XT on MM..... old tech but bloody good.

X1950pro is a good upgrade too, just not quite as punchy.

Made the thread in the MM at last, and this is the first response:

HIS ICE-Q x1900xtx 512mb for £100 including delivery...

Am I better off getting a X1900 XT/XTX or X1950 Pro?
