got back into gaming and I guess the card could do with upgrading, like to stay with nvidia.what will give me a real performance boost .worth waiting for the new cards next year?
thanks

Personally i will update my cpu mobo ram and get a Core 5/7 @ over 4ghz and try keep my 4870x2 to last me till the next gen 5970 = 6970!?!? comes out at a good price because altho current cards are all Wow!! right at this given point in time, Compared to the next gen of DX 11 cards after nvid join the race they will be slow.. look @ 8800GTX 768meg compared to the newer DX cards and that was supposed to be industy standard on launch i don't think they can run the newer games maxed out at a playable frame rate just my 2 cents.

personally i would take a 4870 now play current games and keep that for 6-8 months till the Real high speed Dx11 cards show after nvidea join the race, Not to mention a decent catalog of DX11 games.

or even a geforce 260 if u prefer nvid, Alto 5770 with possible crossfire upgrade in future...

What budget you looking at? Sticking with nvidia atm is like throwing away money in my opinion, ATI are walking all over them at the moment; that may well change in the next few months...

Depends on some factors:
How much do you want to spend?
What Cpu do you have and memory and clock speed?
Is your motherboard Crossfire or Sli or both compatiable?
What games do you play and at what resolution?
Psu Wattage / does it have 20A line?
Do you want Phsyx?

helps Narrow the seach down from all cards to a select few.

ok. i have the following.
asus p5e sli board
intel dualcore e685 at 3.00ghz
4gig corsair twin 8500 at 1066
fsb1333
play flight sims x
il2 sturmovik
rise of flight.
use sony bravia 40" lcd
dont mind the cost but no point getting something that wont match my system so what do i look at?
thanks
