Upgrade from CF 5870s

Is there a worthy upgrade maybe a GTX580 or two 6950s 2GBs.

I game at 2560x1440 though would like to max out Games if poss also my 5870s just cause problems for me.

Around 400 to spend maybe a bit more.

For that res you should look at a pair of GTX560Ti 2GB or 6950 2GB.

A single GTX580 simply doesn't have enough grunt for pushing that res for the demanding games.

570 2.5GB x 2
580 3GB x 2

Each would work great.

Stay away from 580 1.5GB x 2 if you can.

At his res the difference would be more pronounced compared to anandbench, especially with newer titles.

I game at the same res and have the same problem with 6870 CF.

Do you think I would be good with 2 6950s with my Q6600 @ 3.6 or would I need an upgrade to a 2500K?

It might depend Walter if the cards are 1GB? if so look at getting 2GB it's what i think people are saying in this post I'm not sure though.

Just ordered two His 6950s and am curious do these also give better visuals over the 5870s or just make the games run better.

thought 5870s were as quick as 6950s :confused:

just looked at performance of each basically about same performance . 6950s are slightly quicker but not worth the upgrade cost tbh

His 5870 is most likely 1GB.

No-ones suggesting 6850, they're suggesting 6950.

That benchmark means nothing when you're gaming on higher resolution

VRAM is what matters, if his cards are 1GB (assuming they are as hes saying they're just causing problems) then he needs cards with 2GB+ of VRAM.
