i have a e6400 conroe 2.13ghz running at 3.2 ghz and was woundering if u guys think it would be worth upgrading it to a q6600 quad. ? only reason im thinking of doing this is because my current cpu cant transcode 1080p fast enough.

if the software you use supports SSE4 and if you can afford to get a q9xxx chip as it will be much faster

its tversity so im not sure. and only have about £140 to spend.

its definatly the cpu its maxing out when i try to transcode at 1080p, 720p etc is fine and i know its not the network as im running a gigabit network, it just buffers a lot when i try to transcode to 1080p.

Thats how tversity works. It will max out the CPU until the whole thing is transcoded.
What problems are you having ?

it buffers then plays for abit then buffers again but only when trying to transcode to 1080p :(

You ve got a 1080p source and you're transcoding to 1080p and sending down the network for the xbox360 ?
Then assuming you have your 1080p source and the transcoded destination on two different physical hard drives. Network is fast enough even though a xbox360 only has a 10/100 port. It must be the cpu. If you board supports it drop a q6600 in there. a q9xxx would be better but I don't think your budget will cover it.

well upgraded my cpu which is fine now and not raping it allso upgraded my hd but tversity still cant transcode a 1080p .x264 file to play on my xbox quick enough still getting buffering :( any ideas ?

Only source and destination of the file.
You need the x264 file on one hard drive and the one tversity creates on another.
Have you tried watching an pre- transcoded 1080p file. make sure that's not pausing. You`d be able to see if its the network or not. I know you say youve got a gig network but that doesnt always mean youve got full throughput. Just might be something slowing it down.
