do after 5 years I think it's time to upgrade my GPU. I have the GTX 660 but as you can imagine it's running hot and not giving out good FPS on newer games. So I was looking at getting a new one I have about £600 to spend on a new one but not sure what to get. I was looking at a 1060 as a worthy upgrade but is it worth spending the extra bucks and going 1070? I only have a 1080p monitor but would be upgrading eventually I imagine in a year or so. I only have an 8320 as the CPU as well if that matters? But would also be upgrading to 7800x when budget allows.
Any help much appreciated.

If you have £600 alone just to spend on the GPU then go for an 1080Ti or wait for Vega in 2 weeks. If not, get the 1070.

Thanks for the reply having looked around the 1070 seems to cost almost the same as the 1080 (no idea why) so i think i may save a little more and go for the 1080 or prehaps find a used one or is it best to buy new?

If you are going to keep for 5 years get a new evga and buy extended warranty. Your card probably will work for five years but I've had 4 gigabyte cards break in 3.5 years.

I wouldnt buy any new gpu with a 8320, bottleneck heaven. how long would it be till you upgrade to a 7800x?

ryzen 1600 (same gaming performance as 7800x for near half price) + seeing what vega does to prices in 1 1/2 weeks would be my choice

As above. A 1080ti paired with current CPU is a waste.

just saw possible upgrade to 7800X , would wait for Coffee lake then take the drive. listed above was before I re-read your post - athough Ryzen 5 @ 3.9 can handle a 1080 Ti just fine :)
