As title really. I don't really need to, I have been happy wit the card for what I paid for it. Just want something with more umpf. :D

I would be happy with either team, so long as it isn't too noisy under load.

Looking to spend £350ish. Could go more, but rather wouldn't.

Thanks guys :)

Edit: Should probably put the rest of my rig in here.
i7-2700k, I can run this stable at 4.8GHz at the moment.
16GB RAM

For a decent upgrade I would go for 290 or 780.

Have you tried custom bios on the 660ti? can give you a pretty decent boost.

Is the Windforce noisey? Not expecting whisper quiet but the CPU is water cooled so don't want to fit a jet engine :D

My windforce 7950 was very loud compared to my other cards (his 280x x2 and asus top 7950 3 slot)

So much so I sold it and kept the lower clocking asus 7950 for my other rig.

Edit:

Found a benchmark for that cooler on the 290x and they say it isn't far off the stock cooler for noise.

If Noise is an issue I would go for a His or an Asus custom cooled.

Would it be worth chucking in an extra £50 for a 290x?

Looking too much, this is how i ended up with an i7 over an i5 lol.

OK last post here before I click buy.

Getting a 290, Gigabyte Windforce or Saphire Tri-X?

Have you considered the MSI gaming edition? I've just ordered one on recommendation from Gibbo himself :P Apparently the card has both excellent cooling and very quiet operation. They overclock beautifully too :P

Damn you! I am trying to narrow down here! 3 year warrenty too though!

The general consensus is that whilst the MSI is a couple of degrees hotter than the Tri X it is also a number of db quieter too. People have complained that the Tri X is loud where as Gibbo mentioned that the Twin Frozr on 100% is quieter than reference at 40%. I've had a bad experience with Gigabyte recently with a GTX780 so I avoided them.

I'll be testing mine this evening - Overclocking/Benchmarking etc etc.

Jump into the R9 290 Gaming Edition thread on OCUK :P
