I've just bought a ROG Swift so I'm running at 1440p now. Originally I was running at 1080p on my GTX 970.

Would it be worth me upgrading to the 980ti to make better use of 1440p and the extra power for higher quality graphics? Or better to wait for the next gen of cards?

What games are you playing currently?

I'm in the same position except I have a 980, holding out for the next release of cards to see what they're like.. Even if I don't go for next-gen, I'm sure the 980Ti will drop in value, so imo it's worth holding on a bit.

Witcher 3, Project Cars, XCom 2 are probably the most demanding I've got.

I'm half inclined to go with your way of thinking, maybe wait for people to buy next gen and get a used 980ti for a knock-down price.

I made the leap thanks to a refund and even at 1080p it's been very noticeable. Even so waiting may be a better option, had I not got £290 back from a 780 refund I wouldn't have deemed the outlay worth it. At 1440p it's a more compelling upgrade, but only if you can't tolerate slightly lower settings for a few months.

I had a 970 clocked @ 1500 had no trouble with witcher 3 @ 1440 sold for 230 so once the 980ti I want drops to the 500 price ill hit the buy button.

sell your 970 whilst people are still buying them for good money

Not waiting for the next gen once they do come out ill snap another 980ti and sli

OCUK Reference 970 @1440 and everything running fine. I'll upgrade to the 980ti Pascal equivalent when it's released.
