ive got a 2700k cpu and 16gb DDR3 so want to avoid a bottle neck at 1080p. Also want something that will last me another year or two before a full rig update as my system is still plenty powerful enough to run most things on high - want a bit more future proofing though as the 3.5gig vram is struggling at times

What’s best? 1070ti?

I moved from a GTX 970 to a GTX 1070 paired with my 2600k @4.8GHz and it'll play Battlefield V at anything between 90-100fps.

If you can get one cheap enough get one of those, failing that spend a bit more and get a 70TI or 1080 but they're overkill for 1080p

I've gone for one of the Vega 56's to replace my 970 - although I'm also investing in a freesync monitor which was another reason for going AMD as opposed to Nvidia!

Same here, I bought a freesync monitor and replaced my 970s with a Vega 64. I'm done with nvidia.
