Upgrade from GTX480

performance wise it`ll be `on par` with a GTX 750Ti iirc - but as said , take it apart and clean it! a fresh dose of tpaste and de dust , it`ll be like new ;)

I got a GTX 670OC to replace mine :D

What's the voodoo card like? I didn't think those were released? The last model I had was the 5500. :)

DX 6 so no TnL (unlike the GF 256) , was very quick in games like quake 3 (they even made a pre release build including motion blur and depth of field - the headline tech of the card , that and FSAA , which was a new thing - OGSS was the version used IF a card could do it , 3DFX had RGSS - rotated grid super sampling , which was better )

sadly though by 2002 I had a GF3 ;) - still thought the R100 radeon was the best of the bunch at that time though

the guy there got hold of one *wonder how lol* and did a series of tests , as you can see , thanks to the huge bandwidth at the time , in games that arnt vram limited - the quad sli offered huge performance.

Thanks. :) I've got very fond memories of my 5500. Great performer until the a new generation of titles came in. Effectively rendered it obsolete over night. :D

The first radeon I had was the 8500 le 64mb, and that was pretty awesome too. Much quicker than the 5500.

Definitely my two favourite cards.

The 480 was like an american muscle car. Completely OTT and devil-may-care. Loved it.

I did have to change the cooler to a Zalman though (this was before my watercooling days), the noise was insane.

Yer I changed my cooler also, was like a bloody jet engine when it got going!

American muscle car is spot on! Big, powerful, power hungry and the noise!!( ref cooler that is:p).
